AT&T Data Usage Monitoring

I recently changed my Data usage plan with AT&T to include the Personal Hotspot feature a few days after the billing cycle started. Consequently the myAT&T app on my iPhone wouldn’t give me any stats, just the following message.

However, AT&T has another feature that works just as well to monitor data usage. Just dial the number *DATA# (that’s *3282# ) from your iPhone and a text message will appear shortly from AT&T with the detail about your data usage.

As you can probably surmise, I finally dropped my unlimited plan and went with the 2GB plan, then changed to the Personal Hotspot plan with 4GB of data. This text gives me the information I need for my AT&T data usage for the billing month.
